Reconnecting Youth Regesh Family and Child Services is proud to be the first Canadian agency using this treatment based intervention for at risk high school youth. Reconnecting Youth (RY) is a proven, award-winning program that helps high-risk youth achieve in school and decrease drug use, anger, depression, and suicidal behavior. Designed for students aged 14-18, RY is a high school-based curriculum that uses small group skills training to enhance personal competencies and social support resources. The RY program goals are: 1. Increase school performance. 2. Decrease drug involvement. 3. Decrease suicide-risk behaviors. This "indicated" prevention program meets the needs of high-risk individuals by helping students develop skills and strategies for dealing with risk factors in four critical areas:     At school     With peers     With self     With family Regesh is currently running six RY classes in three Toronto District School Board schools.  In addition to the daily RY classes, Regesh is providing all the participants an After School Program (ASP) at their school three days per week.  The ASP provides RY participants the opportunity to use their newly acquired skills in fun and learning after school activities.  As one student has described it, “RY students are taking full advantage of the After School Programs (ASP for short). It’s a place where we can grab some food, hang out and have fun. We play sports (can’t get enough basketball), YouTube videos, watch movies, access tutoring and job skills or listen to guest speakers.  Favorite parts of the ASP are food, chilling and sports.” For full description of this award winning Program, please click on this link: Reconnecting Youth Click the links below to view the Regesh RY Newsletters March 2011 June 2011 “My favourite part of RY was meeting everyone for the first time. Even though I didn’t know anyone, as the weeks went by I made new friends and continued showing up to RY. I’m glad that I’m in this class/program; without it I don’t think I would be so far in life. It made me happy to go to school and to have a great friend/teacher that makes me feel better about myself. I like RY and what it stands for.”  Boylen, Grade 11student.
